German-French-Italian-English dictionary of plant names and technical terms used in the NFI. Definitions are given for the terms highlighted in yellow.

  • forest composition

    Quantitative description of the forest condition in terms of: stem count, volume, tree species, stand structure, stage of stand development, crown closure, etc.
  • [de] Waldaufbau
    Quantitative Beschreibung des Waldzustandes in bezug auf Stammzahl, Vorrat, Baumarten, Bestandesstruktur, Entwicklungsstufen, Schlussgrad usw.
  • [fr] constitution de la forêt
    Description quantitative de l'état de la forêt, selon le nombre de tiges, le volume, les essences, la structure du peuplement, le stade de développement, le degré de fermeture, etc.
  • [it] costituzione del bosco (struttura del bosco)
    Descrizione quantitativa dello stato del bosco in relazione a numero di alberi, provvigione, specie arboree, struttura del popolamento, stadio di sviluppo, grado di chiusura, ecc.

  • The German, French and Italien plant names were taken mainly from the book Die häufigsten Waldbäume der Schweiz or from the Flora Helvetica
  • The English plant names were taken form the internet (swiss web flora, PLANTS Database and Dictionary of Common Names by plantpress.com). The notations and abbreviations were taken from IPNI - The international Plant Names Index.
