German-French-Italian-English dictionary of plant names and technical terms used in the NFI. Definitions are given for the terms highlighted in yellow.

  • sampling error

    Random deviation of a measure (e.g. mean), that has been estimated from a sample, from the true value of the population. The standard error serves as a measure the size of the sampling error.
  • [de] Stichprobenfehler
    Zufällige Abweichung der aus einer Stichprobe geschätzten Grösse (z. B. Mittelwert) vom wahren Wert der Grundgesamtheit. Als Mass für die Grösse des Stichprobenfehler dient der Standardfehler.
  • [fr] erreur d'échantillonnage
    Différence aléatoire entre les valeurs estimées de l'échantillon (p. ex. la moyenne) et les valeurs réelles d'un ensemble de base. On l'évalue au moyen de l'erreur standard.
  • [it] errore di campionamento
    Deviazione casuale di una grandezza stimata sulla base di un campione (es. valore medio), rispetto al valore reale della popolazione totale. Come misura della grandezza dell'errore di campionamento si utilizza l'errore standard.

  • The German, French and Italien plant names were taken mainly from the book Die häufigsten Waldbäume der Schweiz or from the Flora Helvetica
  • The English plant names were taken form the internet (swiss web flora, PLANTS Database and Dictionary of Common Names by plantpress.com). The notations and abbreviations were taken from IPNI - The international Plant Names Index.
