German-French-Italian-English dictionary of plant names and technical terms used in the NFI. Definitions are given for the terms highlighted in yellow.

• transformation

  Change of the management system or the tree species by a clear felling of the current stocking and establishment of a new stand by planting or seeding.
• [de] Umwandlung
  Wechsel der Betriebsart oder der Baumart durch flächige Räumung der bestehenden Bestockung und Begründung eines neuen Bestandes durch Pflanzung oder Saat.
• [fr] transformation
  Changement de régime ou d'essence par la réalisation du boisement existant, suivie de la création d'un nouveau peuplement par plantation ou semis.
• [it] trasformazione (conversione diretta)
  Cambiamento del sistema selvicolturale o sostituzione della specie arborea attraverso il taglio di sgombero del soprassuolo presente e la costituzione di un nuovo popolamento tramite messa a dimora o semina.

• The German, French and Italien plant names were taken mainly from the book Die häufigsten Waldbäume der Schweiz or from the Flora Helvetica
• The English plant names were taken form the internet (swiss web flora, PLANTS Database and Dictionary of Common Names by plantpress.com). The notations and abbreviations were taken from IPNI - The international Plant Names Index.
