German-French-Italian-English dictionary of plant names and technical terms used in the NFI. Definitions are given for the terms highlighted in yellow.

  • volume function

    Formula for the calculation of the tree volume including several variables. In the NFI these are the diameter at breast height, the diameter at a height of 7 m and the tree height.
  • [de] Volumenfunktion
    Formel zur Ermittlung des Baumvolumens mit mehreren Messgrössen. Als Messgrössen werden im LFI der Brusthöhendurchmesser, der Durchmesser in 7 m Höhe und die Baumhöhe verwendet.
  • [fr] fonction du volume
    Formule pour cuber un arbre à l'aide de plusieurs grandeurs mesurées. Dans l'IFN, on utilise comme grandeurs le diamètre à hauteur de poitrine, le diamètre à 7m de hauteur et la hauteur de l'arbre.
  • [it] funzione volumetrica
    Formula per la determinazione del volume dell'albero a partire da più parametri di entrata. Nell'IFN vengono utilizzati i parametri diametro a petto d'uomo, il diametro a 7 m d'altezza e l'altezza dell'albero.

  • The German, French and Italien plant names were taken mainly from the book Die häufigsten Waldbäume der Schweiz or from the Flora Helvetica
  • The English plant names were taken form the internet (swiss web flora, PLANTS Database and Dictionary of Common Names by plantpress.com). The notations and abbreviations were taken from IPNI - The international Plant Names Index.
