German-French-Italian-English dictionary of plant names and technical terms used in the NFI. Definitions are given for the terms highlighted in yellow.

  • forest effect

    Effects of the forest as a vegetation form on the abiotic (soil, air, etc.) and biotic (fauna, flora, human) environment. The effects of the forest are dependent on its extent, distribution, tree species composition and structure.

    Wirkungen des Waldes als Vegetationsform auf die abiotische (Boden, Luft, usw.) und biotische (Fauna, Flora, Mensch) Umwelt. Die Wirkungen des Waldes sind abhängig von dessen Ausdehnung, Verteilung, Baumartenzusammensetzung und Struktur.

    Effets déployés par la forêt en tant que forme végétale sur l'environnement abiotique (sol, air, etc.) et biotique (faune, flore, homme). Les effets de la forêt dépendent de son étendue, de sa répartition, de son mélange d'essences et de sa structure.

    Effetti del bosco, inteso come forma di vegetazione, sui fattori ambientali abiotici (suolo, aria, ecc.) e biotici (fauna, flora, uomo). Gli effetti del bosco dipendono dalla sua estensione, distribuzione, composizione delle specie arboree e della struttura.

  • The German, French and Italien plant names were taken mainly from the book Die häufigsten Waldbäume der Schweiz or from the Flora Helvetica
  • The English plant names were taken form the internet (swiss web flora, PLANTS Database and Dictionary of Common Names by plantpress.com). The notations and abbreviations were taken from IPNI - The international Plant Names Index.
