Vegetationshöhenstufen in der Systematik der Wegleitung Nachhaltigkeit und Erfolgskontrolle im Schutzwald (NaiS; Frehner et al. 2005), reduziert auf 6 Klassen. Die Variable stellt eine Vereinfachung der NaiS-Vegetationshöhenstufen in 10 Klassen (NAISHSTKOMB) dar, indem die Klassen «hyperinsubrisch», «kollin» und «kollin mit Buche» zur Klasse «hyperinsubrisch und kollin» und die Stufen «untermontan», «obermontan» und «unter-/obermontan» zur Stufe «unter- und obermontan» zusammengezogen wurden. Die Angaben beruhen einerseits auf von Experten bestimmten Vegetationshöhenstufen (zugängliche Waldprobeflächen des LFI4 auf dem 1,4-km-Netz; Arge Frehner et al. 2020) und andererseits auf den für die Periode 1981-2010 modellierten Vegetationshöhenstufen (übrige Probeflächen; Zischg et al. 2021).
