Forest definition

The forest definition describes the requirements for measured and interpreted land cover and land use of forests. The criteria in the LFI are treeheight, crown coverage, extent and land use.

Entscheidungsgrundlage zur Abgrenzung von Wald und Nichtwald. Im LFI sind die Kriterien minimaler Deckungsgrad von 20 %, minimale Oberhöhe von 3 m und Mindestbreite von 25 bis 50 m (Waldbreite abhängig vom Deckungsgrad) für den Wald/Nichtwald-Entscheid massgebend.
